What are clinical trials?
Doctors and scientists are always conducting research to find new and better medicines for illnesses. They do this through clinical trials. Clinical trials are a way to learn more about new medicines and find out if they are safe and effective before they become publicly available.26

Why should I participate in a clinical trial?
By participating in a clinical trial you might be the first to benefit from a new treatment.27 However, there is no guarantee that the treatment is as good as the treatment you would have otherwise received, or that it is effective at all (even if it has worked for others).27,285Choosing to be part of a clinical trial is a personal decision.27 You should be provided with information on the treatment being studied, the possible risks and benefits, and discuss these with a doctor who’s not part of the clinical) and your loved ones prior to joining a clinical trial.27
